This is by far one of my favorite assignments for this class! I loved giving the little flour sack personality and little props. Designing characters is what I love to do, so this was right up my alley.
Now this guy is my other favorite! I used audio from a "Clarence" episode. I already had the character in my mind before I started so I just had to find a voice and phrase that would match his appearance. It took a while, but I'm happy with the finished product!
Hello, my name is Kierra Amaral! I'm a Studio Art major with a focus on animation. Most of my work involves digitally painting characters and the worlds that they live within, as way to share my imagination with other people. My fascination with characters stems mainly from observing people and their unique personalities. I am inspired by popular animated films created by studios such as Pixar and DreamWorks, and the works of professional animators / artists like Tim Burton, Don Bluth, and Tiago Hoisel. I would describe my art style as cartoony and colorful, and it can range from the design of anthropomorphic creatures and quirky humans to the environment they live within. I really enjoy puppeting because it works so well for my detailed characters. I don't have to worry so much about messing a frame up and causing a domino effect of chaos! I have used puppeting in the past in Adobe After Effects and plan to do some more in the future!
